Festa Major Manresa 2025

From evening photowalks to being trusted by local press and the council, this gallery is my little contribution to the show.

I didn’t grow up with “correfoc” in my bones. I learned it here. The excitement, the heat, the nerves, the choreography of people and flame do something unexpected: it tugs a thread back to childhood evenings when larger-than-life spectacles brought my family together. Something like a Champions League final or a Wrestlemania. Same vibes, different stage.

What I’ve come to appreciate most about Festa Major is how the streets breathe together. Neighbours, grandparents, teens with their crew, groups of friends having “una xixo” on the green chairs on passeig at 1am with their kids either running around or sleeping on them. Everyone in the same public space, all day and late into the night. For someone who came from London, seeing this much intergenerational life outdoors feels both rare and exactly what we need. Less sofa. Less scroll. More walking, waving, clapping, singing.

This selection is a year-on-year journey too: from being the friend with a tripod at the fireworks to being given real responsibility. Getting there early, staying late, and scanning non-stop. This little piece is more like a thank-you note to Xàldiga and everyone who makes this week possible. The crews, the musicians, the runners, the volunteers, the teams who keep the streets safe and the nights magical.

Gràcies.
